I shaved about 2 hours ago, and ever since, my skin has been very dry and I can barely open my mouth without feeling the skin pull and almost tear!
The weird thing is, even though I washed my face again, it got even dryer. What the hell?… it’s really uncomfortable. What can I do to make it less tight and dry?
Thanks!
To get a good shave, use a wet hot towel to soften your hair, as well as cleanser/soap that is unscented, as these type of products will also ’stress’ your skin, especially when it’s aggravated by using a razor. Always moisturise afterwards, with a non-scented moisturiser, or post shave conditioner. New fresh blades should be easier on your skin than those that have started to degrade, and always ensure that they are clean. Never be too rough whilst shaving, and don’t make many repeated cuts over the same area.
Vitamin C is also needed by your skin, so ensure that you get enough Vitamin C every day, take a supplement if you’re not eating fruit and vegetables that are loaded with it.
My only other thought is that you potentially have an allergy against some ingredient in the products that you use – if you skip a product out at a time, this would help identify which one it may be – even if it’s not an allergy, then it could pin point any one product that is causing you the discomfort. You could also consider taking a sauna, and then shaving immediately afterwards, and comparing the results – many guys use saunas as a method to get a really good clean and close shave – just don’t do it inside, as this would be distasteful and potentially unhealthy for others. But, with the good preparation, lack of rush, and moisturising afterwards your skin should be in better shape. If you think there’s some mild allergic response, aim to cut out the product causing it, and consider an anti-histamine that should reduce the effects too.
Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob
